Strategies for Retaining Reference Data for Analytics and Big Data
Bob Cone, Product Specialist, Spectra Logic

Big data and data mining initiatives have created an unparalleled need for data storage.  More and more companies are reporting their data retention period as, “forever.”  The good news is hardware and software technologies are helping to bridge the storage gap between needed storage and available storage.  However, this good news brings its own set of challenges.  Our concepts of “primary” and “secondary” storage are coming into question as the line between these historic designations is being blurred.   This presentation looks deeply at the types of storage available, analyzes the viability of different attributes of each and helps the data storage professional make the move from data storage to data management

The Service Management Challenge
Zeus Kerravala, Founder & Principal Analyst, ZK Research
Service management is a necessary tool for the real time enterprise Virtualization, mobility, unified communications and consumerization have created an IT environment that is dynamic, scalable and allows for customization on a per user basis.  Never before has IT had this much flexibility when deploying corporate applications.  However, all of this flexibility has raised the bar on complexity and legacy management tools are no longer up to the task of being an effective IT management tool.  This presentation will investigate the need for real time service management, how it differs from legacy "bottoms up" frameworks and provide strategies for IT leaders to gain control over the ever changing technology environment.

2012 and the New Normal: the Security Challenge
Christian Christiansen, Program Vice President, Security Products & Services, IDC

What is the New Normal? Richard Clarke, former Counter Terrorism Czar, says, “Every major company in the United States has already been penetrated.” The reality is that all companies can expect attacks and exploitation. Threats like cyber privateers are a dangerous new development, but solutions are available, both for traditional and new attack platforms like mobile and cloud. Based on customer stories, this session will suggest strategies to counter and even predict new IT security problems in order to fortify the enterprise.

The Intersection of Cloud and Identity

This can’t be good news. Fortunately, times have changed. Come join an open discussion on how vendors are changing identity solutions in the cloud and how you can make the transition for your organization and reap the benefits from this new service model.

The New Enterprise Network in the Era of the Cloud
Rohit Mehra, Director, Enterprise Communications Infrastructure, IDC

At a time where the drive towards virtualization and cloud computing is all but certain, the enterprise network is evolving rapidly to ensure it meets IT and business needs. The converged enterprise is transitioning from legacy infrastructures to a newer, efficient, and intelligent network. As deployment models for mobility and edge access, campus and the datacenter start to diverge, what are the key enterprise network technologies and deployment models that IT and network managers need to be looking at? With voice, video and wireless increasingly important at the edge, what are the key requirements for unified wired/wireless, the remote branch and the WAN? How important is a simpler, flatter 10G architecture in the datacenter, and when does poor application performance become a barrier to cloud adoption?
